Clinic and pharmacy build-outs in NYC & Long Island
Build-outs and renovations for independent clinics of all specialties, including imaging centers and dental offices, and for independent pharmacies with robotic dispensing, planned for patient flow, durable finishes, backup power and secure networks.
Scope of services
- Pre-lease review of the building's power, HVAC, plumbing and accessibility with our engineering partners
- Layout and patient flow planned with our interior design partners, from the front desk to the medical assistant stations and the provider
- Durable, cleanable finishes: heat-welded sheet flooring with a coved base, slip-rated tile, wall protection and solid-surface counters
- Backed-up power for vaccine refrigerators, the front desk, phones and network, split HVAC equipment, network failover, and dedicated server rooms for practices that host their EMR and data on site
- Pharmacy automation: dedicated circuits, backed-up power, cooling and data connections for robotic dispensers; a floor and support designed with common materials to compensate for settlement, isolate the machine from train, traffic and HVAC vibration and allow simple re-leveling; and room airflow and filtration planned to manage pill dust
- Access control, cameras, separate clinical, guest and building networks and a secure network closet, designed to support the physical safeguards of the HIPAA Security Rule
- Used medical equipment: we help practices acquire, transport and install secondary-market equipment, and design the room for its power quality, stable temperature and humidity, and service access
We have built out independent clinics of all specialties, a radiology imaging center, a dental office and independent pharmacies with robotic dispensing across New York City and Long Island, mostly in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Chinatown and in Nassau and Suffolk counties, and we take on projects in other locations as well. In our pharmacy installations, a level, vibration-isolated base under the dispenser has reduced dropped vials. Imaging, lab, procedure, infusion and therapy rooms are built to the requirements of the practice's licensing and equipment. Prices depend on the site and on current material costs, so each estimate is prepared for the specific project. We are a contractor: licensing, certification, HIPAA compliance and billing remain the practice's responsibility, and code approvals rest with its licensed design professionals. We build to their designs and coordinate the filings and inspections.
Ways to reduce project costs
- Deciding on vaccine storage, imaging, lab work or sedation before the layout is drawn avoids moving a sink, a dedicated circuit or a fire partition after the drywall is up.
- Grouping critical loads on one small panel lets a single battery or generator connection serve them, instead of backing up the whole suite.
- Two smaller HVAC units cost slightly more than one large unit but keep the practice open when one fails, and filters reachable from outside clinical rooms can be changed often without a service call.
- Placing exam-room sinks and the lab along existing plumbing walls, and running all low-voltage cabling in one visit before the walls close, reduces labor.
- When a practice takes over a former clinic, we walk the space before demolition. Sealed rooms, door operators, welded sheet flooring, HVAC and backed-up circuits identified at that stage can often be reused instead of removed and rebuilt.
